The DW offers PhD students the possibility to present and discuss, receive feedback, and exchange comments and views on their doctoral research in an inspiring academic community of fellow PhD students, experienced researchers and professors of the IFIP WG 5.1 community.

The participants of the Doctoral Workshop are PhD candidates that conduct research in the scientific field of PLM. A limited number of participants will be selected to present their doctoral thesis research plans. In addition to the presenters, other PhD candidates are invited to join the workshop as active listeners, discussants and learners. The workshop will consist of presentations and discussions of the selected doctoral thesis research plans.

Step 1. Each participant is required to submit a research plan with a maximum length of 15 pages that addresses the following main points:

  • Problem statement/Objective of the thesis
  • Theoretical background and research gap
  • Research questions
  • Methodology and data
  • Expected results and contribution to theory and practice

Step 2. Each participant is asked to review the research plan of a colleague.

Step 3. On Sunday 1st July, the selected participants have to perform:

  1. A 3-minutes elevator pitch to synthesize the PhD research project
  2. A 35-minutes extended presentation consisting in:
    • 20 minutes for the oral presentation (Powerpoints can be used)
