Doctoral Workshop

On Sunday 9th July, the PLM Conference will host the sixth Doctoral Workshop on PLM, an occasion specifically defined for PhD students and young researchers interested in PLM topics. The Doctoral Workshop will run on Sunday 9th from 8:30 to 16:00 and it will take place in the same location of the PLM17 Conference, at US Computer Science Engineering School. The School is located in the Reina Mercedes Campus at Reina Mercedes Avenue s/n 41012 Sevilla.

The Doctoral Workshop offers PhD students the possibility to present and discuss, receive feedback, and exchange comments and views on their doctoral research in an inspiring academic community of fellow PhD students, experienced researchers and professors of the IFIP WG 5.1 community. The participants of the Doctoral Workshop are PhD students that conduct research in the scientific field of PLM. A limited number of participants will be selected to present their doctoral thesis research plans. In addition to the presenters, other PhD students are invited to join the workshop as active listeners, discussants and learners. The workshop will consist of presentations and discussions of the selected doctoral thesis research plans.

For each presentation, altogether 35 minutes are reserved:

  • 20 minutes for the oral presentation (Power Points can be used)
  • 5 minutes for the peer review (Power Points can be used)
  • 10 minutes for the discussants’ comments and general discussion.

Presenters must submit a research plan using the Doctoral Workshop template. The maximum length of the research plan is 15 pages and the oral presentation should not exceed 20 minutes.

The research plan should address the following main points:

  • Problem statement/Objective of the thesis
  • Theoretical background and research gap
  • Research questions
  • Methodology and data
  • Expected results and contribution to theory and practice
