Doctoral Workshop

Ph.D. WORKSHOP - 9th JULY 2023

On the 9th of July 2023, the PLM Conference will host the 10th Doctoral Workshop on PLM, an occasion specifically defined for Ph.D. students in PLM or related topics.

The Doctoral Workshop offers Ph.D. students the possibility to present and discuss, receive feedback, and exchange comments and views on their doctoral research in an inspiring academic community of fellow PhD students, experienced researchers and professors of the IFIP WG 5.1 community.

Each participant is required to submit a research plan.

Each presentation will consist in:

  • 3-minutes elevator pitch
  • 20-minutes presentation followed by peer review comments and general discussion

Research plan structure

Problem statement and objective of the thesis:

  • Theoretical background and research gap
  • Research questions
  • Methodology and data
  • Expected results and contribution to theory and practice

Prof. Dr. Monica Rossi

Monica Rossi got her PhD in Management Economics and Industrial Engineering at Politecnico di Milano. She got her Master of Science: Management Engineering, Politecnico di Milano. Monica is faculty member of MIP and assistant professor at Politecnico di Milano, where she got her PhD in Industrial Engineering in 2014. She has held visiting researcher positions at MIT, Tokyo Metropolitan University, Sorbonne UTC and Rutgers University. She teaches Product Lifecycle Management and Industrial Technologies at MSc, and Lean Product Development at executive master. She publishes in international journals such as Computer in Industry, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management and International Journal of Project Management. She won a Shingo Prize research Award for Lean Product and Process Development Chapter within the book The Routledge Companion to Lean Management, 2017.

Prof. Dr. Ouzrout Yacine

Prof Ouzrout Yacine is a full Professor of Computer Science in the Supply Chain & Product Lifecycle Management group of the DISP Laboratory at the University Lumiere Lyon2. He obtained his PhD in Computer Engineering from the INSA National Institute of Technology of Lyon, and his HDR Diploma (accreditation to supervise research) in 2012 from the University Lyon 2. Currently, he is the Director of the Institute of Technology of his university and Deputy Director of the DISP Laboratory. His research interests include PLM, information systems, multi-agent systems, simulation, and decision support systems. Professor Ouzrout has been involved in several European projects: Asia-Link East-West project (2004), Erasmus-Mundus projects: eLink (2008), cLink (2010), eTourism (2011), Fusion (2013) and Smartlink (2014-2018) , and EU FP7 Fitman (, FP7 Easy-IMP and H2020 vf-OS (2016-2019) and DIH4CPS (2020-2023), and is currently the local coordinator of one Erasmus+ project SHYFTE 4.0 (Skills for Industry 4.0, 2019-2022). Professor Ouzrout is in the advisory board, co-chair and member of program committees of several International conferences. He is an editorial member of a scientific journal and reviewer of numerous scientific journals in his research field area. He has graduated 18 doctorates (four of them in cotutelle with international Universities) and over 35 Master students.
